Tulsa Looks Good on You: The Pencil Box | The Wolek Group | Tulsa Realtor
Recently, we met with Nancy Bolzle, the Executive Director of The Pencil Box. Nancy showed us around the "retail" space and shared the story and mission behind this amazing nonprofit.
Did you know???
According to the 2020 Oklahoma State Department of Education Low Income Report, 56% of students enrolled in Tulsa County public schools live at or below the Federal Poverty Level. Families struggling to make ends meet cannot afford school supplies for their children.
Tulsa County teachers report spending an average of $500 out of pocket every year on students and classroom supplies. (Oklahoma Education Association) Working together, we can ensure all students have an equal opportunity to learn and the supplies necessary for success while eliminating the need for teachers to spend their own money to bridge the need.
This is why The Pencil Box exists and lives their mission:
"We believe every child deserves the supplies they need to succeed in school. Our mission is to maximize the academic potential of disadvantaged students, equalize the learning experience and give hope by offering school supplies, educational tools, and incentive items necessary for successful learning."
We are so glad to be a part of and support local organizations like The Pencil Box.
