Welcome back to another episode of Tulsa Looks Good On You! Today, I am thrilled to introduce you to the incredible Nancy Moore. Nancy is a true Tulsa powerhouse—she holds an MBA from the University of Tulsa, has been a business instructor at Tulsa Community College for over 20 years, writes for TulsaKids Magazine, and is the host of the incredible Sharing Passion and Purpose podcast!

We sat down to talk about her journey from corporate auditing to career fulfillment, how to discover your true natural gifts, and the power of getting in the room with growth-minded women.

Chasing the Dollar vs. Finding Your Purpose

Like many people, Nancy started her career chasing the dollar signs. Fresh out of college, she went to work as an auditor for Ernst & Young in Dallas. While it paid well and had a big name, the day-to-day work went entirely against her grain.

"I never stopped to think about what am I passionate about, what am I good at, where are my gifts and my talents," she explains.

Realizing the importance of finding her purpose early on, Nancy shifted gears. Through her roles in job placement, teaching at TCC, and writing for TulsaKids Magazine, she found her true passion: hearing people's excitement for their careers and inspiring others to make a change. This led her to launch the Sharing Passion and Purpose podcast during the 2020 quarantine to share those inspiring stories on a broader scale!

How to Discover What You Are Good At

If you are feeling lost or unhappy in your current role, Nancy has a specific roadmap to help you uncover your true purpose:

1. Look to your youth: What were you genuinely interested in and naturally drawn to when you were younger?
   
   
2. Ask your inner circle: Ask people close to you, "What do you think I am really good at?" We often don't recognize our own natural giftings because they come so easily to us.
   
   
3. The Free Day Test: If you had a whole day completely to yourself and didn't have to worry about anyone else, what would you truly enjoy doing or working on (not just going to the spa!)?
   
   

If you can find the intersection of what you love to do and what you can be paid for, you have found your roadmap!

Community is the Cheat Code: The Gather & Grow Retreat

Nancy believes that community is the ultimate cheat code for growth. That is why she created the Gather & Grow Retreat, a half-day, in-person event for women who want to learn, connect, and grow.
